Will Cole-Hamilton has served as a Courtenay City Councillor since 2018 and was elected CVRD Board Chair in 2023. He also chairs Climate Caucus, a national network of locally elected leaders focused on municipal climate action.

Recently
Council to endorse resolution for fair BC Ferries federal funding
Council will consider endorsing MP Gord Johns' motion for fair federal funding for BC Ferries, and request priority status for the Build Communities Strong Fund to support housing infrastructure. They will adopt several loan authorization bylaws for road, storm, sidewalk, and firehall projects. Also on the agenda are delegations from Natural Pastures Cheese Company and Comox Valley Exhibition, staff reports on Stage 3 water restrictions and outdoor pool funding, and multiple zoning and bylaw amendments.
Council discusses policing contracts, development permits, and ferry funding
The Council will review several land-use amendments and municipal reports. Key discussions include the upcoming RCMP policing contract, various zoning changes, and a motion to support increased federal funding for BC Ferries.
Committee to discuss restructuring advisory commissions and committees
The Committee of the Whole is reviewing a proposed restructure of its advisory bodies, including the Heritage Advisory Commission and Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Staff reports and existing bylaws on committees and commissions are being considered. Potential changes to terms of reference may be debated.
Council to approve borrowing for 6th Street Bridge and zoning changes
Council will consider first and second readings of a zoning amendment at 3095 Lake Trail Road and first, second, and third readings of another at 2535 Cumberland Road. They will also vote on a temporary borrowing bylaw for the 6th Street Bridge and discuss a resolution for provincial support of food banks.
