BGC Central Vancouver Island
The largest childcare provider on Vancouver Island, running 14 club locations across the Comox Valley, Parksville, Lantzville, Nanaimo, and Ladysmith. They serve over 2,000 kids, youth, and families every year through childcare, daycare, summer camps, teen programs, and family support programs.
Founded in 1971, BGC (Boys and Girls Clubs) focuses on giving kids safe, supportive places to build skills, try new things, and develop confidence. Their programs combine learning with hands-on activities; less classroom, more experiential. The goal is to help young people become resilient, contributing members of society.
In the Comox Valley specifically, they operate club locations offering before-and-after school care, licensed daycare for younger kids, and youth programs for teens. Summer camps run during school breaks. They also work with families through parenting programs and community support.
BGC is part of the national Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada network. Their tagline is “Opportunity Changes Everything,” and they focus heavily on making programs accessible regardless of family income or circumstances.
If you’re looking for childcare, after-school care, or summer camp options in the valley, or if you want to volunteer or get involved with youth programs, check bgccvi.com for locations, registration, and program details. They’re always looking for staff and volunteers too.
