Community Justice Centre

A nonprofit that helps people work through conflicts using restorative justice principles, the Community Justice Centre brings those involved in harmful situations together for dialogue about accountability, repair, and moving forward. Services are free and confidential.
They handle both criminal and non-criminal conflicts. If you’ve been harmed or caused harm and want to address it outside the traditional justice system, this is one option. The centre also provides community education on restorative justice and serves as the local hub for the Resilience BC Anti-Racism Network, helping individuals and organizations respond to discrimination.
The organization runs on volunteers; over 60 trained people who facilitate resolution conferences, coordinate cases, and support operations. Training is provided if you want to get involved. They’re always open to new volunteer applications.
Established in 1998, the centre operates from an accessible downtown Courtenay office. The board includes partner directors from K’ómoks First Nation, the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox, Village of Cumberland, CVRD, and the RCMP.
If you’re dealing with a conflict and wondering whether restorative justice might help, call 250-334-8101 to talk through your situation. They’ll let you know if it’s a good fit.
