Senior Support North Vancouver Island

A nonprofit providing practical and emotional support to seniors across the North Island, from Bowser to north of Campbell River. They’ve been serving seniors in the Comox Valley since 1991 and recently expanded to include Campbell River.
The organization runs five programs in the Comox Valley:
Friendly Visitor — weekly visits or phone calls to reduce isolation, plus monthly book bundles delivered to seniors’ homes.
Navigate (formerly SIAS) — helps seniors access services like tax preparation, legal forms, housing support, food programs, and navigating government paperwork.
Caregiver Support — support groups meeting three times monthly for people caring for aging family members or friends.
Grief and Loss — monthly support group on the third Thursday for anyone dealing with loss (pre-registration required).
Intergenerational Connections — a newer program connecting seniors with families, children, and youth through shared activities.
Most services are delivered by trained volunteers, many of them seniors themselves. The organization serves over 550 vulnerable seniors each month and has 150+ active volunteers contributing over 550 hours monthly.
They also publish a Seniors Resource Guide and serve as the Comox Valley host agency for the BC Community Response Network.
If you’re a senior needing support, a family member looking for help, or interested in volunteering, check ssnvi.ca for program details and contact information.
